We are the first technology park in Brazil
TechPark is directly connected to the origins of the city. Based on the history and technological vocation of the city of São José dos Campos, we can say that it has housed the first technology park in Brazil, over 70 years ago.
São José dos Campos’s development and industrialization have been closely connected to technology, from the creation of the Aeronautics Technical Center in 1946 (later named Department of Aerospace Science and Technology – DCTA), which originated the Aeronautics Institute of Technology (Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica – ITA) in 1950, the National Institute for Space Research (Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais – INPE) in 1961, and Embraer in 1969, forming the first major technology ecosystem in Brazil.
Today, São José dos Campos Technology Park is the main representative of the city’s great technological front and leads a vast expansion. In 2019, with the enactment of the New Zoning Law, which established rules in relation to parceling, use and occupation of the land, in alignment with the Master Plan for the Integrated Development of the city of São José dos Campos, TechPark’s center and its surroundings became part of the TechPark Special Perimeter, which extends for 15.8 million square meters.
